Health Innovation Hub Ireland has listed Neutropy in its Product Portfolio under HIHI.Ai. Here is what HIHI said, who HIHI are, and what it means for clinics that still book patients by hand.

Health Innovation Hub Ireland (HIHI) has added Neutropy to its Product Portfolio. HIHI describes the portfolio as "a collection of innovative healthcare products from HIHI client companies", and it now lists more than a hundred products. Our entry sits under HIHI's artificial intelligence initiative, HIHI.Ai, with the focus areas "AI in Healthcare" and "Healthcare Management".

It is a short page. But it is HIHI's own description of what we do, on the website of the national body, supported through Enterprise Ireland and the HSE, that works across the Irish health sector with Irish businesses. That is worth marking.

What HIHI said

The listing reads, in full:

Neutropy is a healthcare technology company that provides AI-powered "digital employees" to automate administrative workflows for hospitals and clinics. Their platform uses AI agents to review referrals, contact patients, verify insurance eligibility, schedule appointments directly within existing electronic health record (EHR) systems, and manage routine patient communications. By handling repetitive scheduling and administrative tasks, Neutropy aims to reduce referral backlogs, minimise missed appointments, improve patient access, and allow healthcare staff to focus on more complex and high-value patient interactions. The solution integrates with major healthcare systems and is designed with healthcare-specific privacy, security, and audit requirements in mind.

HIHI lists five key benefits. We did not write them, so we quote them as they stand:

  • Reduces patient scheduling time from days or weeks to just minutes by automating the booking process.
  • Frees up administrative staff to focus on complex patient needs instead of routine scheduling calls.
  • Integrates directly with existing hospital EHR and practice management systems, eliminating duplicate data entry.
  • Helps reduce missed appointments through automated patient confirmations and reminder calls.
  • Improves patient experience by providing prompt, multilingual communication and faster access to appointments.

That is a fair summary of the product.

Who HIHI are

HIHI is a national entity established by two government departments, the Department of Health and the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, and supported through Enterprise Ireland and the HSE. It works from four centres: University College Cork, Trinity College Dublin at St James's Hospital, the University of Galway and Munster Technological University. Its job, as the Interreg Europe good-practice entry puts it, is to "pilot market-ready solutions in real-world healthcare settings".

For a company that sells to Irish hospitals and clinics, that is the right room to be in.

Where this sits in Irish health policy

Digital for Care: A Digital Health Framework for Ireland 2024-2030, published by the Department of Health on 21 May 2024, sets out actions to "widen the use of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to the management of waiting lists" and to use SMS reminders "to reduce Did Not Attend (DNA) rates for outpatient hospital appointments". The HSE's Digital Health Strategic Implementation Roadmap, published in July 2024, is the delivery plan for it. Among the benefits for staff, the HSE lists "more time to focus on clinical activities and patient care, instead of administrative tasks".

On 11 March 2026 the Department of Health published AI for Care, Ireland's first national strategy for artificial intelligence in health and social care. It names "automating high-volume administrative tasks" as one of the gains it expects from AI. On 30 April 2026 the Health Information Act 2026 was signed into law. It provides for the HSE to create an Electronic Health Record for every patient, and it gives further effect to the European Health Data Space regulation.

Neutropy does the administrative half of that agenda today: the referral, the phone call and the booking. A national record will make that work easier, not redundant. Someone still has to ring the patient.

Why it matters for Irish clinics

The National Treatment Purchase Fund reported that at the end of December 2025, 611,987 people were waiting for a first outpatient consultation and 107,181 were waiting for inpatient or day-case treatment. The consultants exist. The clinic slots exist. What is missing is the admin capacity to move a referral from an inbox to a confirmed appointment quickly, and to keep it confirmed.

That is the work the Neutropy platform does. A GP referral arrives over Healthlink, the patient is called, a slot is agreed, and the booking lands in the consultant's existing diary. Nobody types the same details twice. The people in the office get their time back for the patients who need a person, and fewer slots go unused.

Trust matters more than speed here. Neutropy is built GDPR-first on EU-resident infrastructure. Patient identifiers are stripped before any language model sees clinical text, and every call and booking has an audit trail (more in our FAQ). We integrate over HL7 v2 and FHIR, the standards Irish hospitals already use. HIHI's listing says the product is designed with healthcare-specific privacy, security and audit requirements in mind. The detail behind that line is ours to prove, clinic by clinic.

What the listing is, and is not

The page records one thing: HIHI counts Neutropy among its client companies and has placed us under its AI initiative. It is not an award, a pilot or a cohort. Neutropy was not among the fifteen winners of the HIHI.AI Call 2025, announced on 16 December 2025. When there is more to report, we will report it here.

We started Neutropy because one of us did hospital admin by hand, as a hospital secretary, and the other could build the thing that does it. A listing on HIHI's site does not book a single patient. But it tells an Irish clinic manager that the people whose job is to bring new technology into Irish hospitals have looked at ours, and put it on the list.

Frequently asked questions

What is the HIHI Product Portfolio?

The HIHI Product Portfolio is Health Innovation Hub Ireland's public list of healthcare products from its client companies. HIHI describes it as "a collection of innovative healthcare products from HIHI client companies". It listed 107 products in September 2026, including Neutropy under the HIHI.Ai engagement with the focus areas AI in Healthcare and Healthcare Management.

Is Neutropy's HIHI listing an award or a pilot?

No. The listing records that HIHI counts Neutropy among its client companies and places it under its artificial intelligence initiative, HIHI.Ai. It is not a HIHI.AI Call win, a funding award or a hospital pilot, and Neutropy does not claim any of those.

Who runs and funds Health Innovation Hub Ireland?

HIHI is a national entity established by two Irish government departments, the Department of Health and the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment. It is supported through Enterprise Ireland and the HSE, and it works from four centres: University College Cork, Trinity College Dublin at St James's Hospital, the University of Galway and Munster Technological University.

How does Neutropy fit Ireland's digital health policy?

Digital for Care 2024-2030, published by the Department of Health in May 2024, sets out actions to widen the use of Robotic Process Automation in waiting-list management and to use SMS reminders to reduce Did Not Attend rates. The AI for Care strategy of March 2026 names automating high-volume administrative tasks as one of the gains it expects from AI. Neutropy does that administrative work today: it reads GP referrals, calls patients and books appointments into the clinic's existing practice management system.
