What Epic is

Epic is one of the largest electronic health record platforms in the world, used by major hospitals and health systems. Its Cadence module handles enterprise scheduling, managing clinic diaries, provider templates, and appointment booking across large organisations.

How Neutropy connects

Neutropy reads patient and scheduling context and writes confirmed appointments into Epic Cadence through Epic's standards-based interfaces, using FHIR APIs and HL7 v2 messaging where the health system has them enabled. Bookings respect existing provider templates and scheduling rules, and every action is logged. No patient identifiers are sent to a language model.

In practice

A hospital on Epic with Cadence scheduling still relies on staff to phone patients and slot referrals into clinic templates. Neutropy reads each referral, calls the patient, and books into the correct Cadence slot within the template rules the hospital has configured. Clinicians and schedulers keep working entirely in Epic, and the referral-to-booked-appointment step happens automatically rather than through a queue of manual calls.
