Thomas M Byrne

Tom is Executive Chairman of Charter Medical Private Hospital. He is a former Partner of Pathfinder Consulting, now SIA Consulting following its successful acquisition in 2020.

He is a former Chief Financial Officer of the Health Service Executive, and was Group CFO and a Director of BT Ireland and ESAT BT. Tom also held the position of VP Finance with BT Global Services. Prior to this he was CFO of Bristol Myers Squibb's Bulk Pharmaceutical operations in Ireland and a director of their Captive Insurance Company in the IFSC.

A graduate of Trinity College Dublin, he is a Fellow and past president of The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, and a past president and trustee of the Trinity College business alumni. He has held Board membership of several companies and charities, including being seconded to the Board of Management of the RDS. He has sat on the Board of the US-Ireland Alliance, Co-Operation Ireland and is a founding Director of the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition LTD. He is a former Board member of Bus Eireann appointed by the Minister.

Following graduation from Trinity he qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant with the Jefferson Smurfit Group and was CFO of Smurfit Web Press, then Ireland's largest print company and voted Smurfit Company of the Year when he was CFO. Tom currently sits on the Finance and Risk Committee of the Royal Dublin Society and the Audit and Risk Committee of the Trinity College Foundation.
